Matthew J. Hill is a litigation and trial attorney with a practice focused on family and divorce law. He also maintains a selective general litigation practice. In addition, he is a trained mediator who provides mediation services in the area of family law.
After practicing for more than three years at what became one of San Marcos’ largest litigation firms, Mr. Hill left that firm in late 2010 and opened the doors to M. J. Hill & Associates, PLLC, in January 2011 as the firm’s president and managing attorney.

Highly-Qualified Family Law Representation
During his career, Mr. Hill has been responsible for litigating matters in both state and federal courts on behalf of numerous clients. This includes spending more than two years early in his career defending and litigating an alleged $20 million lawsuit in federal court, which was ultimately resolved in his client’s favor.
Mr. Hill’s work experience also includes interning and serving as a clerk for a Texas County District Attorney’s office (twice), a Texas District Court judge, a large civil defense firm, and for the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s office in San Antonio.
He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, as well as a member of the Hays County, Comal County and Bexar County bar associations. He is also a maintaining member of the Texas Bar College.
